Highlights

What's important is the balance of sweetness and tartness! Brix and acidity in mere one minute. This Master Kit is specifically for measuring citrus (Low Acidity & High Acidity), grapes & wine, tomatoes, strawberries and includes everything you need for easy, precise and accurate measurements. The Master Kit comes complete with a scale, 1 beaker, and 1 measuring spoon.

Features:

  • Sweet and Sour ~ Balance is the Key: Sweetness of fruit is often used for evaluating quality. Unfortunately, sweetness does not always mean that the fruit is tasty. Delicious fruits have the proper proportion of tartness and sweetness. Brix-Acid ratio indicates the maturation levels of fruits. Brix-Acid ratio is displayed by pressing a single button (R button), No need for complicated and troublesome calculations. (PALEBXIACID only) Brix-Acid ratio= Brix% / Acidity%.
  • No Reagent Required: Conventional acid level measurement methods, (acid-base titration) are expensive, require complicated set-ups and disposal procedures, and need a large amount of costly reagent. ATAGO Acidity Meters & Brix-Acidity Meters require absolutely no reagent at all! Acidity measurement add distilled water until t-he total desired weight (dilution ratio) is reached. Dilution ratio will vary depending on the scale.
  • NFC: Measurement history (up to 100 items) can be read by touching a contactless IC card reader/writer connected to a smartphone or a personal computer.

Measuring Range for Acidity:

  • Low Acidity Citrus: 0.10~4.00%
  • High Acidity Citrus: 2.50~8.80%
  • Grape & Wine: 0.10~4.00%
  • Tomato: 0.10~3.00%
  • Strawberry: 0.10~3.50%
  • Blueberry: 0.10~4.00%

Accuracy:

  • Brix: ±0.2%
  • Acid: ±0.10% (0.10 to 1.00%)
  • Relative precision: ±10% (1.01 to 4.00%)

Why choose the ATAGO PAL-BX|ACID Meters?

Hybrid Measurement Device:
With PAL-BX|ACID, the integral parameters of fruit, sugar (Brix) and acidity can be measured with one device. It measures sugar level (Brix) through a refractometry method using light refraction. Also, it measures acidity level through electroconductivity method using electrical current.
Sugar (Brix) x Acidity Balance:
Besides sugar level or sweetness, the acidity or tartness is another important element that influences the taste of fruit. By simply pressing a button, it promptly displays the indispensable sugar acid ratio of fruit and vegetables.
Simple Measurement Procedures:
To measure acidity, dilute sample with water, place it on the sample stage and press the START button. Anyone can easily take these measurements.
No Reagent Required:
Conventional acid level measurement such as the acid-base titration method requires large amounts of costly reagent and tedious disposal procedures. ATAGO Brix-Acidity Meters require absolutely no reagent at all!
Easy to Read Measurement Values:
The acid-base titration method derives the acid content as phenolphthalein changes color when the solution is alkalized, but it is difficult to determine the equivalence point. With ATAGO Brix-Acidity Meters, anyone can easily see the results with a digital readout.
Transportable and Easy to Carry:
Transportable and compact size. It is lightweight and can be easily carried by anyone.
Glassware is Unnecessary:
We have heard customers tell us how they broke the glassware required for the titration method. Have peace of mind and be worry free of damage with ATAGO Brix-Acidity Meters.

Ease of Measurement:

Apply some sample (undiluted).
Pour 1.00g of fruit juice into the beaker. Add purified water until the total weight is 50.00g or 100.00g. (The dilution ratio differs depending on the scale)
Press the R button when the Brix or Acidity is displayed to show the sugar and acidity ratio.
Press the START button.
Apply some diluted sample
Clean the sensor with water. Dry the area with tissues thoroughly.
Press the START button.

Measuring Tips:

Tomatoes and Grapes:

Crush (unpeeled) and filter through a sieve or coffee filter.

Oranges and Citrus Fruits:

Cut in half, use a citrus squeezer / juicer to extract the juice and filter through a sieve or coffee filter

Canned tomatoes:

Crush (fruit only) and filter through a sieve or coffee filter. (Only salt-free/additive-free canned tomatoes)

Jams, Jellies and Purees:

Filter through a sieve or coffee filter. (Unsalted/additive free samples only;)

Apples and Kiwis:

Grate (unpeeled) and filter through a sieve or coffee filter.

Pineapples:

Peel, crush (fruit only) and filter through a sieve or coffee filter.

Yogurt:

Dilute, then measure.
