Highlights

The vacuum pump is a multifunctional device used for diagnostics of systems in cars and technology, the operation of which is based on pressure or under pressure. It is equipped with accessories enabling use in almost any engine or system.
The YT-0674 pump is equipped with a switch that, depending on the position, allows you to create a vacuum or pressure.
Moving the switch toward the pump outlet will create a vacuum while pumping. The switch towards the handle will create pressure while pumping.
Measurement range: -1 to 3 bar.

Intended use / Application

Using the pump, you can carry out diagnostics, among others of the following systems and systems:

Computerized engine control devices:

  • barometric pressure sensor (BARO)
  • PCV system
  • exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
  • thick film pressure sensors (MAP)

Ignition control devices:

  • vacuum ignition advance
  • delay valve: SDV, RCV

System brakes:

  • classic brakes
  • ABS brakes
  • air brakes
  • brake lines
  • brake servo

Other systems:

  • air conditioning
  • cruise control
  • fuel tank and fuel system
  • vacuum door closing system

How to use

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System Diagnosis
An EGR system valve is an example of a vacuum-actuated valve. In the absence of a vacuum, the valve is closed and the exhaust gases do not come out of the valve. When the vacuum is applied to the valve, it opens to allow exhaust gas recirculation.

Thick Film Pressure Sensor (MAP) Diagnosis

  •  Assemble the pump and reservoir system for bleeding the brake calipers, then connect to the sensor vacuum port.
  • Press the pump lever until the needle shows -0.5 bar. Stop pumping and watch the pointer, it should be stationary. If the pointer moves, the MAP sensor is defective.
  • During operation, the MAP sensor sends feedback to the control computer. The signal frequency is between 85 Hz and 160 Hz depending on the vacuum level. To measure the frequency, a frequency meter is necessary, it must be connected in accordance with the instructions of the sensor and the meter.

Bleeding the brake calipers.

  • Make sure that the brake expansion tank is filled with fluid to the nominal volume.
  • Bleed the air in the following order:
  • the master cylinder, if equipped with a bleed valve
  • the brake calipers in the sequence from the one closest to the master cylinder to the furthest one
  • Connect the short hose to the connection on the underside of the cover of the pump reservoir.
  • Close the pump reservoir with the lid.
  • Connect long hoses to the cover connections. Connect the end of one of the long hoses to the pump and the other end to the bleeding valve (calipers) of the brake caliper. Use an adapter if necessary.
  • Press the pump lever 10-15 times to create a vacuum in the pump reservoir.
  • Open the vent valve 1/4 - 1/2 turn so that the pump reservoir is about 5 cm full with fluid. Tighten the vent valve.
  • Disconnect the pump hose from the bleed valve, the clamp bleeding procedure is complete.
  • Before repeating the bleeding procedure in the next caliper, drain the brake fluid from the pump reservoir and top up the brake fluid level in the brake system to the nominal level.
